The fifty-year hollowing out of America's economy is nearly complete.

It started when the capitalists began replacing their workers with machines and moving their operations overseas. With artificial intelligence, it will end.

If you have a job in the service industry, consider yourself lucky. Those jobs will still be around for a while. But as AI continues to merge with machinery, even they will disappear. This is the new serfdom.

Martin Luther King famously said, "The moral arc of the universe is long, but it bends toward justice." Perhaps, but then it bends away from it again. An arc, it must be said, is just part of a circle.
